Purposes
Tahoma Clinic Foundation, established as a nonprofit organization in 1996, is committed to furthering the study and evaluation of naturally-based, "whole-body" therapies. Its work is multi-faceted:
  • To conduct scientific research regarding natural medicine and how it can help deliver more effective, more affordable, and less dangerous care.
  • To educate the public and health care professionals about natural health care.
  • To provide funding for natural health care for persons unable to pay for such care from other sources.
Many research projects are being developed to explore nutritional therapy as an adjunct or alternative to conventional medicine. Two initial activities are focused on ascertaining the efficacy of a wide range of natural and alternative treatments, particularly for recognized disorders that are known to respond to diet and nutrients. One such project, already begun, involves the administration of a unique, natural mineral supplement. Under the supervision of Jonathan V. Wright, M.D., an internationally recognized pioneer in the field of nutritional medicine who is donating his time, and other researchers, this study will analyze changes in the level of minerals in the body. Working with volunteers, the study will focus on changes in symptoms and mineral levels over time.

The Foundation has applied for funds administered by the Office of Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health to conduct a study examining Dr. Wright's decades-long observations that vitamin B12 can be a major factor in relieving the wheezing of childhood asthma.

Beyond Research
While research is the Foundation's priority, another important goal is subsidized medical treatment for needy patients.

The Foundation's board of directors also envisions many educational projects to promote awareness and understanding of "nonconventional" medicine and how it complements allopathic approaches. (This merging of alternative and allopathic medicine is becoming known as "integrative medicine.") By its second year of existence, the Foundation hopes to provide financial and other support to charities that foster public health through natural medicine.

Please help us!
Grants, gifts and other forms of donations from individuals, health care professionals, corporations and other benefactors are expected to be the primary funding sources for Tahoma Clinic Foundation.
